1. What is extlabs.com?

Extlabs.com is a musical network of interactive sounds, live performances and music production contests. As a member, you can enjoy a live, high quality streaming of music, based on the average of active users' musical preferences. The stream is completely live and depends on your musical preference.

There is a forum, exclusively for members to discuss anything about music and music production, describe the music they want to hear, and submit their work to live contests.


2. How do I use extlabs.com?

Simply select a payment plan..

$5/month for the live, high quality stream

$20/year for the live, high quality stream plus your choice of a free CD download by artists like extortion labs, kept blue, and your infamous harp

Then..

Go to the forum and register. Fill as much out in your profile as you want, however your musical choice is the most important. Don't forget to upload a <50mb .wav as a profile sound... and start interacting!


3. Why is my musical preference important?

Your musical preference is the key to a successful radio like ours. Based on everyone who is logged in on the extlabs forum, the music generator plays the average musical preference. As you can see, there are four aliments in describing music.. intensity, speed, mood and type. The music generator isn't just going to choose from a specific genre and play whichever most people like, it is going to precisely look at those aliments to decide what music you hear. When users log out, their preference do not average in. If you don't make your preference known, you don't have a say.. however, you will not be disappointed with the quality music that is playing regardless.


4. What is a profile sound for? Why isn't mine uploading?

A profile sound is a very short, yet unique sound that each user uploads. While logged in, the music generator will grab your profile sound and play it randomly and rhythmically through out the broadcast until you log out.

If you are having problems uploading your sound, there are probably only a few easily resolvable issues:

a. Your sound is not the right format. It should be a .wav file only, they offer the highest quality sound. Mp3's are lower quality and do not work.

b. Your file is not small enough. Your sound should be about 1-2 seconds long, 50mb is the maximum. Why? Because your sound will be used as a part of the drum beat, replacing a particular drum head.

c. Your sound has uploaded perfectly, you just can't tell because it is not present on the profile settings. Check your actual profile and there should be a link to your sound.
